Cause-specific mortality rates: Common trends and differences

چکیده
In contrast to the traditional approach that uses total mortality rates, we want gain additional insight into past development of by concentrating on a more detailed breakdown data, namely causes death. We work with data from five developed countries (USA, Japan, France, England and Wales, Australia), two sexes, split rates main groups death (Infectious&Parasitic, Cancer, Circulatory diseases, Respiratory External causes). As it was shown in Arnold Sherris (2016), these time series cause-specific are cointegrated so, there exist long-run equilibrium relationships between them. While previous research focused stationary part system present paper study its non-stationary part. For this explicitly extract common stochastic trends original variables compare them across different datasets. By testing cointegration assumptions about trends, able get better representation understanding how evolving. believe patterns emerging such analysis could indicate link fundamental biological processes as aging.

Differences among official statistics of mortality rates in Iran
Dear Editor, Death indicators and causes of death are both closely associated with socio-cultural, economic, and structural factors and determinants of health, with all of which being at the core of the planning, monitoring, and assessment of intervention programs in any healthcare system (1). In Iran, the diagnosis and official registration of deaths are carried out by two independent organiz...
متن کاملCause-specific mortality rates in sub-Saharan Africa and Bangladesh.
OBJECTIVE To provide internationally comparable data on the frequencies of different causes of death. METHODS We analysed verbal autopsies obtained during 1999 -2002 from 12 demographic surveillance sites in sub-Saharan Africa and Bangladesh to find cause-specific and age-specific mortality rates. The cause-of-death codes used by the sites were harmonized to conform to the ICD-10 system, and ...
متن کاملThe effect of different sensitivity, specificity and cause-specific mortality fractions on the estimation of differences in cause-specific mortality rates in children from studies using verbal autopsies.
BACKGROUND Verbal autopsies (VA) are increasingly being used in developing countries to determine causes of death, but little attention is generally given to the misclassification effects of the VA. This paper considers the effect of misclassification on the estimation of differences in cause-specific mortality rates between two populations. METHODS The bias in the percentage difference in ca...
متن کاملTrends in Sri Lankan cause-specific adult mortality 1950–2006
BACKGROUND Although all-cause mortality in Sri Lanka decreased significantly from 1950 to 1970, subsequent declines have been more modest with divergent trends by age and sex. This study investigates these trends through cause of death analysis for 1950-2006 in adults aged 15-64 years. METHODS Deaths were obtained from the World Health Organisation (WHO) mortality database for 1950 to 2003, a...
متن کاملEstimating cause-specific mortality rates using recovered carcasses.
Stranding networks, in which carcasses are recovered and sent to diagnostic laboratories for necropsy and determination of cause of death, have been developed to monitor the health of marine mammal and bird populations. These programs typically accumulate comprehensive, long-term datasets on causes of death that can be used to identify important sources of mortality or changes in mortality patt...
